Florin Buddhist Church

The taiko classes at our temple was a success. A total of ten people signed up for the workshop and classes. However, we had people dropping in each week for class.

Our instructor, Kristy Oshiro, did a wonderful job teaching us taiko. We learned basic taiko history, terminology, etiquette, and form. We also spend a portion of the class learning a taiko song called Renshu. One week, we learned how relaxed muscles can help us play taiko better. We took a relaxation test and many of us had a difficult time truly relaxing.

The one and a half hours went by quickly. The classes were fun, mentally and physically stimulating and relaxing. These classes ended on February 23, but we will have more classes starting in March. If you would like to join our next set of classes, please fill out the form below.

Classes will begin on Monday, March 2 and end on April 6. We meet from 6:30 pm –8:00 pm for six consecutive weeks.
